Green-Schools Flag

Green-Schools is Ireland’s leading environmental management and education programme for schools.  It promotes long-term, whole-school action for the environment. Green-Schools is a student-led programme with involvement from the wider community.​

We have 5 Green-Schools Flags

  • Our 1st flag is in Litter and Waste.  This theme focused on litter and waste issues, encouraging a sense of responsibility.
  • Our 2nd flag is in Energy.  This theme looked at the steps that could be taken at school to help reduce energy consumption and raise awareness of climate change.
  • Our 3rd flag is in Water.  This theme developed awareness around water conservation and how to effectively manage this important resource in schools.
  • Our 4th flag is in Travel. This theme aimed to increase the number of students walking, cycling, scooting, using public transport or carpooling to school.
  • Our 5th flag is in Biodiversity.  This theme looked at  increasing awareness in schools of the importance of native plants, animals and habitats.

New Flag

We are currently trying for our 6th Green Flag which is in Global Citizenship - Litter and Waste.  This theme will enable our school to discover how work on Green-Schools will positively influence our global community.  Our are only beginning our journey to try and get this flag at the moment.  We will keep you updated as to how we are getting along.​.
