Digital Schools Framework
We were delighted that in September 2018 we were chosen as one of 30 primary and secondary schools in the country to be a trial school for the new Digitial Learning Framework. Schools involved in the trial had the opportunity to assist in developing the Framework, as part of overall Department policy, with the aim of helping to transform teaching and learning in Irish schools. Participating schools received specific inputs and supports which enabled them to fully embrace the implementation of the Digital Learning Framework. This was also a valuable opportunity for the Department to gain knowledge and insight on teaching and learning using digital technologies, which would facilitate the implementation of the Digital Learning Framework across all schools.
We worked closely with our advisor from the PDST and devised a plan to enhance even further the digital learning in the school. We created videos about various topics which we were learning about. We also created used the iPads to tell stories using pictures and sound.
Here are some pictures taken during some of the visits as part of the Digital Schools Framework in which we worked with iPads using various apps and green screening.

Our School Vision for Digital Technologies
As a school, we aspire to embed digital technologies across the curriculum in the areas of teaching learning and assessment, promoting the creation of digital content as opposed to mere consumption. We aim to engage the pupils in our school collaboratively with regards to digital technologies, enabling them to essentially become self-directed learners. We also recognise the potential of digital technologies to enhance the learning environment of pupils with special and additional needs. We are aware that our pupils are digital learners and, as such, regularly undertake activities in an online environment, and so we acknowledge the importance of developing their competence in the area of digital citizenship and internet safety.
